I’m roughly halfway done with “The Souls of Black Folk” by DuBois and reading an excerpt here and there from an anthology of women’s lives (can’t remember the title).  In the evenings I keep telling myself that I will stop knitting at 10 and then read for the next hour, but by the time I get around to reading, it’s past 11 and I’m too tired to pay attention to anything serious.  I’ve been thinking about doing a word of the day thing here to expand my vocabulary and also to make my blog more interesting.  But my problem is that we don’t have a dictionary anywhere in the house.  I’m not sure how that happened, because I know I had one in college.

I joined an online book club and am dipping my toes into the discussion.  Luckily the next few books are ones I’ve read already or on my list of things to read, so I know I’ll have something to say.  The book they are reading now is “Mrs. Dalloway”, which I read in college, but I can’t quite remember the plot.  Hm.  After that is “Water for Elephants” and “The Other Boleyn Girl”.  I think I will have to invest in Audible now.  Last year we got a free trial and I downloaded “The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse” and loved listening to a book, although sometimes it was difficult to understand.  But at least this way I’d be able to knit AND listen to a book!
